Description
The Director of Facilities, Construction, and Auxiliary Services will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of Facilities, Construction, and Auxiliary Services that support the College’s overall strategic plan by providing innovative services and strategic business partnerships that improve value, increase student success, and enhance the College’s financial condition. The purpose of Facilities. Construction, and Auxiliary Services is to improve the quality of campus life for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Job Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Facilities, Construction, and Auxiliary Services and functions.
- Responsible for the strategic implementation and oversight of day-to-day activities of the Facilities and Auxiliary Services departments and programs: facilities, maintenance, campus dining, and mail services.
- Provides proactive management of contractor relationships between Stillman College and its service providers.
- Ensures contractors are following contract terms and providing required services to the College community.
- Administers all aspects of lease agreements.
- Manages facilities upkeep, maintenance, improvements and execution.
- Monitors auxiliary facilities for safety and accessibility compliance.
- Works with facilities staff on facilities maintenance and improvements.
- Collaborate with departments to create and execute detailed scopes of services.
- Address and respond to the needs and requests of various departments as required.
- Oversee the management of all construction projects within the organization, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient execution of construction and renovation projects, alongside maintaining overall facility operations.
- Responsible for ground maintenance, parking lots and walkway maintenance, and campus beautification.
- Develop strategies and recommendations for preventive maintenance, deferred maintenance, renewals, and deficiencies.
- Manages all aspects of college-wide building services and grounds.
- Ensure all up-to-date legal postings are placed in a designated area within established timeframes (elevators, etc.).
- Works closely with facilities staff to ensure outstanding quality in all work performed by maintenance technicians engaged in maintenance and general repair of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmith, welding, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC).
- Assist management with special projects and reports as needed.
- Monitors energy usage and implement conservation programs.
- Respond to after hours corrective and emergency work orders.
- Coordinate, plan and communicate with academic and administrative units to ensure planned maintenance efforts do not conflict with instructional and research activities and priorities.
- Ensure areas determined safety issues are corrected (i.e. trip hazard, concrete cracks). This includes building plumbing failures, floods, damage due to weather events, manholes, and the like.
- Provide directions to staff during emergency operations (inclement weather, utility outages, etc.). This position and majority of staff are determined Essential Personnel and as such are required to be on site in preparation and recovery from campus emergencies.
- Coordinates with the dining hall staff to ensure timely and satisfactory meal delivery to constituents maintaining high standards of quality and service.
- Works closely with campus postal service ensuring efficient and accurate processing of all mail and packages for students, faculty, and staff.
- Oversee and manage the campus vehicle fleet, ensuring proper maintenance and coordination of transportation services.
- Implements corrective actions as directed.
- Conducts performance review process for employees in the unit.
- Expands professional knowledge through training, classes, and seminars.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree required in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two years of facilities, construction, and auxiliary services experience.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work well under limited time constraints.
- Strong customer service perspective and ability to understand diverse sets of changing customer needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of facilities management, including maintenance/custodial services and renovations.
- Maintain a competitive outlook, constantly scanning for trends and evolving preferences that impact facilities and auxiliary services on campus.
- Displays exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills, with particular attention to confidentiality.
- Always interact with employees in a positive and helpful manner
