Description

The General Custodian is responsible for maintaining campus buildings and surrounding areas in a clean, orderly, safe, and sanitary condition. Reporting to the Director of Facilities and working under the direction of the Facilities Management team, this position supports Stillman College’s mission by helping to maintain a welcoming and well-maintained learning and living environment. This is a full-time, non-exempt, 12-month appointment.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 Conduct daily cleaning and maintenance of all facilities, including halls, offices, retail areas, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, break rooms, kitchenettes, laboratories, gymnasiums, and locker rooms. This encompasses a range of tasks, such as sweeping, dusting, dust-mopping, wet-mopping, spot-mopping, spot-cleaning, and the thorough cleaning of walls, doors, and partitions.
 Clean and disinfect all surfaces and touch points, including elevators and water fountains.
 Clean all entrances, entrance walks, entrance mats, steps and stairwells, patios, and concourses.
 Clean and maintain all floors and floor coverings, which include regular duties such as vacuuming, shampooing, burnishing, striping, sealing, and waxing.
 Spot clean and clean all exterior and interior glass surfaces of all assigned buildings; cleans ceiling lights and blinds.
 Restock restrooms and custodial supplies.
 Report maintenance and safety concerns to Facilities leadership.
 Assist with campus events, furniture movement, and special projects.
 Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Management team.

Physical Requirements
Regular lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting to 100 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching are required.
Work Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (40 hours/week). Evening or weekend work may be required as needed.
Management retains the right and discretion to modify schedules, building assignments, shifts, and/or days for operational purposes.
Minimum Qualifications
 High School Diploma or GED required.
 One (1) year of custodial or facilities experience preferred.
 Successful completion of a background check is required.
