Stillman College is seeking a dedicated Reading Specialist to join our School of Education. The ideal candidate will support literacy development by teaching pedagogy and content courses, guiding students through structured P-12 school experiences, and contributing to the development and implementation of statewide literacy initiatives, including AL-PIE.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
- Attend State department meetings pertaining to Literacy courseworks and legislation.
- Attend State department meetings pertaining to AL-PIE development, implementation, writing.
- Teach elementary pedagogy and content courses
- Teach program and departmental courses
- Conduct research and scholarly pursuits within the department
- Perform service activities to include advisement and committee assignments
- Participate in structured real-world experiences in P-12 school setting(s)
- Attend regular departmental and School meetings
- Serve on committees
- Monitor and evaluate student outcomes through informal and formative assessments
- Communicate and interact with students effectively and consistently
- Develop and select instructional plans and materials to meet student needs
- Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and best practices
Qualifications
- Ph.D, Ed.D. or Ed.S. specializing in Reading for Elementary and Secondary Education
- Successful teaching experience at the P-12 level along with teaching experience within a multicultural environment
- Requires 30+ hours in reading
